I wrote this for the Dogs site, but thought it might be a relevant read for everyone here, too... and if one person reads it and decides to report a case of animal abuse, it's completely worth the repost.

Recognizing Animal Abuse and What to Do

Debra,

Thank you for such an important article.

It is sad to think that our furry friends could be treated so cruelly by anyone let alone their owners.

Most welcome. Please feel free to share!

Sadly, it was inspired by a recent event in my own hometown. A family's cat escaped their home, and was found by the family the next morning. Somehow the poor creature survived being shot in the head with an arrow... he was in their driveway, and ended up being euthanized for frighteningly, sickeningly obvious reasons. It was one of the worst cases of animal abuse I've ever seen in my own backyard; the knowledge that it probably wasn't an isolated case sickens me even more. I just hope that the good people stand up for our furry friends and do what's right.

It's like child abuse... abuse in the home can be the hardest to discover and perhaps the hardest to report... but it's still abuse.

Thanks for the comment laugh
