Is anyone else watching the 'Hatfields and McCoys' duke it out on the History Channel?

My gosh they have cast the movie so well. Kevin Costner is great, as are all the actors.

Now that I think about it, Beetle, I don't rightly know if any of those folks would be comin' roun' your neck of the woods. Even a Hatfield would not mess with an ex-Marine with a capital E on his band of medals.

I rightly can't say that any of the folk around my neck of the woods have any claim to be cousins... even kissin' cousins.

My gosh.... When I was growing up it seems we had cousins all over the place. No kissin' cousins though. Except one...I had the biggest crush on one of my cousins who was the same age as me. It only lasted for about one summer and I never did get a kiss from him.

This Hatfield and McCoy movie is so good. The last and third part comes on tonight and I am so anxious to see who survives.

I hope this mini series will run again. I can watch it over and over, it was that good.

I have always been fascinated with the legends of the Hatfields and McCoys. So, I was excited when one of my favorite shows on the History Channel, American Pickers, decided to go to the Hatfield/McCoy region to see if they could find artifact belonging to or mentioning Devil Anse.

After a lot of research, they found some old ledgers in a general store. The store had been bought sometime in the 1990's by a couple who bought it from descendants of the original owners. The store was in business since long before the legendary feud began. Everything that had been in the store was left there and became property of the new owners. There is some pretty old, old stuff there.

In one ledger, the American Pickers, Mike and Rob, found a page that was a record of the purchases made by Devil Anse himself. Among the list of supplies on that page was one bar of soap.

Now, I ask you in all seriousness ...with a house full of nine kids, Devil Anse bought ONE bar of soap? hmmmm....

Did you know that Devil Anse was baptized in his later years? Well, he was.

I wonder if some thoughts came to him about the early times when he and Randolph McCoy were close friends and some of the faith Randolph had rubbed off on Anse?

Because I am a romantic and spiritual, I do hope that Anse and Ol' Rand'l found peace with each other in the spirit world.

I completely agree. The shows are taped on our DVR. I'm saving them. We were fascinated by the program.

Someone please distract granpappy while this is on. He gets so worked up.
