I have not written on my site for about a week. At work, this past week we were hit with a terminal diagnosis for one of our clients. (You know I work with the developmentally disabled). I am going through the process of sorting it out so that I can appropriately deal with it.
Nurses often seem like we are cold and uncaring. What really happens is that we have to deal with this in a different way. I have a young direct care staff who will be grieving. There is a father who is grieving. My priority is to help my client to be comfortable and cared for and to put my grief on the back burner.
In the meantime, I need to get back to writing because I love this site and I hope something I post is positive and helpful. Thanks for listening.
