Allergy season is definitely playing nasty tricks on us this year. In many places, allergy season arrived early with a vengeance. Pets with allergies are even paying the price. My golden retriever has been sporting her "halo" device to keep her from gnawing at her itchy places. The funny thing is her allergies arrived later than normal while mine came on strong earlier than normal. Who can figure this year? My dog is allergic to grass. She is white and I noticed her getting very red and very irritated eating and licking her paws so i took her to the vet and he told me that dogs have allergies as well. It is amazing how well she looks when I don't take her in the grass, but it is hard because I am surrounded by many acres of grass all around my house. My vet suggested over the counter medication that works very well but i hate giving her any type of medicine!

I felt bad about keeping my pooch indoors too and away from grass. But that's what we had to do. It usually takes two weeks for her allergies to clear up.
