If the Cthulhu Mythos sounds like something out of a horror novel, it is. It can even lay claim to being its own genre within horror literature. Not only is it about books, its gone mainstream in the gaming community, in music, and movies.

Find out more in this weeks article The Cthulhu Mythos. It may inspire you in your crafts or your cooking as well as your reading.

It's made its way into magickal lore too. I've come across several rituals to invoke "The Elder Gods" much to my amusement. Especially the ones that insist the Pentagram should be worn at all times 'for your safety'.

Personally I always think of Cthulhu as this. smile

This crocheted one is rather fun:-

Crocheted Cthulhu free pattern

actually there are a whole lot of patterns for crocheted and knitted cthulhu's, some of them really wacky. But this one was one of the better ones.

I could see The Great Old Ones making their way into the realm of magic. Just reading about the Mythos makes me want to try my hand at it.

Those little creatures are so cute - the plush and the crochet. He sure took a long time to catch on but I'm hoping he's here to stay.

Have you seen Neil Gaiman's short story I, Cthulhu ? It's very tongue in cheek!
