One of the things that people think when I tell them I'm ok where I am is shock and disbelief. How could you be ok? Don't you want promotions? More money?

Well first off, who wouldn't want more money? LOL... But honestly I am in a job I love. I get to train, I get to help people with their careers, I recruit, I do so many things - what will another title get me? Titles don't make me happy. I make me happy when I see others succeed in their career. I make me happy when I see that "ah-ha" moment light up when I'm holding a training session. Or we hire that perfect person for a job (especially if they have been out of work for awhile)

So I'm wondering how many others out there are ok where they are?

I totally get that Dianne. I remember my first year training I got offered a p.t. management position for a set salary plus commissions and it was such a nightmare.

I had to supervise 14 trainers (many of them would miss their training sessions or injure clients). Was responsible for selling $1800 of personal training packages per day (yes per day) and had to report to 2 bosses several times a day plus deal with client complaints etc.

AND I could only train 1-2 clients per day. It was the worst 4 weeks of my life so I resigned and left to start my own p.t. business.

I realized soon after that not having a fancy title was way better plus I made twice as much working for myself and worked half the hours : ) Best decision I ever made!

Monica,

So cool...When we come to the realization as to what makes us happy vs. what makes us miserable and realize there is something better and we HAVE the power to make that change - what a freeing experience.

At our board meeting today, one of our board members was released from her job. She has not found a new one, she say's she is just as busy, if not busier then when she worked, pursuing a new job, going to conferences, spending more time with the organizations she volunteers for - but it's different. She looks totally at peace and well rested. She totally hated her job.
