I am going to play in the sprinklers later today with my neighbor lady. We are going to see who can stand being in the cold water longer.

We could just walk down to the pool and float around, but, the sprinklers are more fun and the sprinkler water will cool us off much better than the pool water.

Sounds like you are going to have some fun while keeping cool, Phyllis. It is going to be about 95 and humid today in these parts. Yuck.... I need to mow the grass but I am waiting for a slight cool down. I can't work in this heat.

With sprinklers, you get mud puddles, too.

Yesterday it was shockingly cool outside, and by that I mean only 90 degrees. It felt so nice and clean, as the monsoons are starting to wash away the humidity.

Today is hot, but at least dry.

With the rains, I was also able to fill up my rain barrels. Free water!

Free Water? Sounds like Wall Drug Store in the South Dakota Badlands (in the middle of nowhere) advertising free ice water to refresh parched travelers to Rushmore or Yellowstone back in the 1930's. This brought in business to the small town.

My yard could sure use some of that free water. Send it in on the next jet stream, please. <Have yet to perfect my rain dance>

Beetle, I hear you. Kansas is so parched right now. The yard is developing big old cracks. About 5 years ago, we tore out all of the grass from our front yard and made it flowers. Even the dry-loving coneflowers are looking limp. For the first time, we've had to water.

Milkweed and poke are thriving.

Parts of California are so dry that a lot of people throw down rocks in their yard and forget about planting altogether, sticking instead to a few drought resistant plants and container gardening, using up less water.

In the northeast we had some thunderstorms come through yesterday afternoon and last night. It gave the lawns and plantings a much needed drink.

Beetle, i've been to Wall. I got a new tire there while traveling to Minnesota in April...caught in a blizzard when my tire blew out. I saw all the billboards and was planning to blow right by Wall.

Turns out it wanted me to visit, I guess.
