It takes time and reflection in order for a teenager to connect with their inner being.

I really liked your article. It true, teenagers are busy in their own life. They used to spend most of their free time in internet, television etc. They dont have that much time to tune into their inner being.

Jennie.....thank you for reading my article.

Teenagers seem to like a noisy, busy lifestyle. When I was young there was not so much technology and my friends were not all close by. I played with my brother and sister outside. I had friends in my neighborhood too and when we saw each other it was usually to engage in activities outside, or we just sat around out there and talked. I was not in the house during nice weather.

I enjoyed quiet time out in nature even back then. I walked around the yard and studied the plants, flowers, insects, etc. I cared for the rosebushes and they flourished. I'd spread out an old comforter on the ground in the shade, lay down on it, and look up at the sky. I'd look at the clouds and watch the birds fly by. Sometimes I even took a nap there.

I was very in tune with nature and my inner being. I found nature to be very comforting and like my friend. It made me who I am today.

Teen years are such a volatile time for budding young humans. Often, they act out or withdraw because they are in the process of "becoming" and need the trust and space from parents who are used to hovering, molding and shaping their children.

Some teens do learn to seek and find within. Others still feel conflicted and overwhelmed by all the outside noise that disrupts their inner growth.

There are many spiritual paths. Each teen is placed in the environment that will help him become what he intended to become from the beginning.

Great article, Debbie.

Thank you for your comments, Lori.

There is indeed a lot of outside noise and distraction for teens, and it can be hard for them to stop and to reflect. I was lucky in that my parents were not overbearing (but they were strict), and if I was in my room or outside in the yard they did not hover.
