When holidays roll around, I like to focus on the dessert that best goes with the holiday theme. For the Fourth of July, there is a special pie I make that is very patriotic with the colors of the American flag. This cherry cheese pie is decorated on top with red (cherries), white (sour cream), and blue (blueberries).

Oh, my gosh! My mouth is watering for a bite of this pie. I am going shopping later today or tomorrow to get the ingredients.

This pie is so pretty and tempting when sat on a table that is decorated with a blue or red table cloth, and Fourth of July decorations.

I'm not a sour cream or cheesecake girl, but I know a lot of folks who would love this pie.

You can replace the sour cream with whipped cream. The cheese filling is rather mild, not quite as strong tasting as a cheesecake.

Did anyone try the Patriotic Pie recipe?

Mine turned out better than ever before. I did not have a regular pie pan and did not realize that I had loaned them to someone and never got them back.

So, I used my 8"x 8" glass brownie pan. I had to double the cheese filling recipe to properly fill the pan. It worked out just great. And my pie crust was perfect -- flaky throughout, even on the bottom. Awesome pie!!!

This is usualy what we make for 4th of July or Memorial Day and a hit with everyone.

Hi Phyllis...thanks for asking. I am doing well. I am more on Facebook than on any of my forums I belong to. Forums will never replace FB and are more informative and great and better resources. I'm a creature of habit I guess...even if its a bad habit.

I know what you mean, rdywenur. I am either on facebook or here most of the day. Habits are hard to break.

I am not a big fan of facebook. I just don't have the time for it all and it has changed too much through the years to be appealing to me. I limit my online time because I have a lot of other things I prefer doing away from the computer.
