Yum. I don't like peanut butter but love other nut butters.

How would you do this without electricity? Hand grinder, mortar and pestle, or something else?

Hello, Jill,

Well, I don't know. It would take an awfully long time to grind almonds without electricity to power the Cuisinart! They are hard little nuts, and take very long even with electricity!

On the other hand, I was at a local Farmer's Market recently, and saw an interesting contraption: A blender was somehow attached to the rear of a bicycle, behind the seat, and the man doing the demo pedaled the bike to run the blender to make smoothies! I did not find out how the motor was attached to the stationary bike's wheel or chain. Maybe you could do the same for a Cuisinart.

One could also use a generator or windmill or some other alternative to create the electricity. Thank goodness I have it!

I wonder how people did it before electricity?

I like the bike idea. I've seen that blender thing on The Biggest Loser in this last season. That could probably work for a cuisinart. Could be fun to figure out how to do it, plus you get a workout!
