A very warm welcome to the Self Development Forum !

Although moon madness has been around for centuries, there is still no hard evidence on exactly what causes reported changes in human behaviour and strange effects around the time of a full moon.

See: Moon Madness - Are You Affected

What do you think about lunar cycles, the mind and moon madness?

I'd love to receive your feedback so do add your comments, queries, thoughts, etc., to this Forum thread. I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Debbie, thanks for your comment. For some reason, 'Moon Madness' is more talked about in the UK than in the US. There are many police, healthcare and other reports of strange happenings around the time of a full moon over here! (JOY)

In Germany, France and Russia too Joy...........those are the ones I have heard about personally...........but probably other countries also.

There are hospitals that will not operate unless it is an emergency when the moon is in the 'wrong place', as far as I understand it it has something to do with the 'blood flow', and certainly in Germany they actually have charts tracing the higher rate of accidents and incidents which take place around the full moon.

Hi Francine, many thanks for the info on other countries. Germany, in particular, seems to keep very good records on the effect of the full moon! (JOY)

Now that I live in the country, I find the full moon to be a nuisance so maybe it does affect people in a negative way. In the city I barely noticed if it was full or not. Here it lights up everything. I've found a starry night is far more soothing somehow.

Hi Alice, thanks for your comments. Yes, in the countryside where there are no city lights the full moon is much more obvious. Some say that this is why house thefts are more common - as thieves can see better in the moonlight! (JOY)

I used to think that lunar cycles don't affect me, but lately I started wondering. Even changes in climate and temperature are affecting how well I feel, digestion and other things. It makes me think that lunar cycles may be affecting me too, and, for that matter, they may be affecting everyone. The problem is that there is no way to know for sure.

Certainly there has been research done? Doesn't sound like a question, but it is.

For the past year, I have been under the impression that the moon cycles do affect me. It seems I am very irritable just before the full moon. Then, when there is a full moon, I am up earlier (3am) and I become more productive, better at planning, and more hopeful and positive about my possibilities.

While this seems very much like the opposite of many of the claims in your article (which I enJOYed), it still seems to be an affect.

Great topic JOY! Have a JOYful day!

Yes, you're quite right. It is a difficult one to tease out as there are so many variables to deal with! (JOY)
