In the early to mid-1970s my wife and I worked and lived in the New Hebrides, an archipelago in Melanesia now called Vanuatu. I have written a few short essays in my all-purpose blog, so anybody interested in the place might like to check out *A wedding to attend* in the blog's archives for April last year. That would be just a sampler. If anyone is interested in actually going there, I'll be glad to answer questions.
Of course it's changed quite a lot in the past forty years. Today, they play international cricket, for one thing! I know that because a new resident of Vila emailed me the other week asking for my reminiscences of the sport in my day there. Now, the national team plays in the dizzy heights of the 6th Division of the International whatever-it-is. Crikey!
