Variety magazine is reporting that GKids has acquired the North American rights to the From Up on Poppy Hill anime film. However, the article does not specify if GKids' rights include both theatrical and home video.

Variety's report says that GKids will be releasing the film in March 2013, and also plans to qualify the film for 2013's Academy Awards before them.

The report is also saying that Studio Ghibli is producing an English-language version of the film, with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall co-executive producing the English version.

Anime News Network is reporting that GKids has confirmed that the company will be releasing From Up on Poppy Hill, in addition to handling the theatrical release of the film.

The company also confirmed that Studio Ghibli is producing the dub.
