We decided to not make the big Sunday meal today. So we went to the store, bought bread, ham, capicola, salami, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, provolone cheese and a bottle of Wegmans' submarine dressing and made our own subs - yum! The kids loved it because they could add as much or as little meat as they wanted and it didn't cost 50 cent more to get the bread toasted.

Plus we have enough for lunch next week. While in the short run it may have been cheaper to buy subs, in the long run -we will save because we won't have to spend money on lunch the next couple of days!!! My son is especially happy because he gets to save the lunch money I gave him anyway for something else. Smiles all around.

It was great not having to pay for extra meat. I poured on the topping and i LOVE tomatoes so I had extra of those too! My lunch today is looking pretty delicious, hopefully I can hold out until then...lol...

We are thinking of doing the sandwich thing a lot this summer. A lot of busy nights Monday - Thursday, there really won't be much time for cooking and, believe it or not, the kids are also getting tired of McD's.

You can totally make a meal of sandwiches by adding soups, sides, or fruit.

Vary your sandwiches by using those with bread and wraps, too!

Hmmmm.....I am in the area and have never heard of Wegman's. I will have to check online for more info.

I like making my own steak and cheese sandwiches. I get deli roast beef and warm it up in a pan, melt cheese over it, and I usually add one or all of the following.....sauteed onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Into a fresh roll it goes and it is as good as any sandwich shop. Plus it is cheaper.

I also do meatball subs using frozen italian meatballs which are quick and easy to defrost, and I throw them into hot gravy or tomato sauce, then into a roll with cheese and sometimes sauteed peppers. It can be baked on a cookie sheet or placed in the toaster oven if you want a toasted sandwich.

Cold cut subs are always excellent. I like to imitate the italian BMT's from Subway. Fresh rolls are a must, and it sure is nice to have control over the amount of various ingredients.

One of my favorite meals for a crowd is the meatball subs. Have one crockpot with barbecue meatballs and the other crock with Italian meatballs in spaghetti sauce. Serve them on hoagie or hot dog buns with a variety of salads, fruit and chips. It is the easiest thing in the world to feed 20-40 people this way. Everybody takes care of their own plate, and you can enjoy the company.

I kind of figured out on my ownsome that since it is called Wegman's _____, that one could get it at Wegman's. Your response doesn't really address the subject of my question, which was not where are Wegman's markets located, nor who sells products named "Wegman's" but what the product actually is.

You know - is it made from prune paste, shredded bacalao, grated cheese?

If I asked what is Hellman's Salad Dressing, a response might be it is a product similar to mayonaise in look and texture, but it has more vinegar and sugar and thus is tarter and sweeter.

I would have an idea what it is from that. However, a response that says "It is something they sell in grocery stores." would not be all that helpful.

So, if I might ask again What is Wegman's Submarine Dressing?
