Emotional Closet Cleaning

Good tips, Tina. I do find that cleaning a closet can sometimes be emotional, especially if I find momentos that remind me of good times, people I have lost, or dreams never realized. Some things make me sad. Some things I do have emotional ties to for other reasons, but usually I find that I can part with items a little at a time. What I may want to keep today I might be ready to part with in a month's time if I go back to it. Funny how material things seem to take on a life of their own in our minds sometimes.

Great tips! We're getting ready to sell our house, downsize and build OUR dream house... but before we can get there, we have to go through two lifetimes of accumulated stuff. I'm dreading it... there's so much I have that my parents have bought me -- even though I never use it any more -- that I know is going to be tough to get rid of.

I do just need to suck it up, decide if I'm really going to miss this stuff, and look to the future. Thanks for the timely article and the reminder that it's this stuff that made me who I am, and it's just stuff!

Great article Tina, I totally agree. One closet I was cleaning had boxes and boxes of pictures. Needless to say, cleaning stopped as the kids and I sat and remembered all the good times we had.
