Great article! It's weird, the appeal of these creatures. Very slow predators. It might have to do with sleep paralysis and our dreams of not being able to move fast. Just a thought.

I'd love to dress and act like a zombie in a shuffling mob as a pub crawl. That actually sounds fun.

It would be fun. No one would be judging you for dressing poorly or having a bad hair day.

Jilly - I enjoyed reading your journal postings. It remained me alot of the survival stories I've read from fictional apocalypses. If we have to survive anything, I'm going to your house.

The highlight of the pub crawl could be the midnight playing of Thriller in the streets...BWAHAHAHAHAHA [to the sound of Vincent Price laffing]

Alice, i distinctly think we have apocalypse-philia in common.

We should do a collaboration on dystopian stories - you can discuss the horror elements and I can talk about whether the humans are being smart about survival. What did you think about, say, The Book of Eli? I am Legend?

Now that's an interesting idea. Two separate articles with a common thread to link them?

I have a teenage son. He's been playing some "kill'em zombie" game. He reports that not all zombies are alike, some are very slow but take forever to kill, and some are quite speedy but don't require the same amount of ammo. He said the biggest challenge is blasting them when they band together. Personally, I hate zombies!

Teenagers would be all about the gorier the better. I'd have a tough time with that. Although I am an Angry Birds fan and that isn't really so different. Die, pig, die.

My 30 year old son downloaded Joshua Guess's zombie blog to my Kindle on accident. He was shocked to find out I enjoyed it.

Living with the Dead

Josh has been posting his blog for a few years as if he survived the invasion and he gives daily accountings of how he's managed to survive. Alot different then the shoot them up games of teenagers. To read his blog, you'd have to start way back at the beginning or get his ebook. It's a different way to write and tell a story.

What a neat idea on the ebook to blog progress. I like how new media interlocks things and enhances creativity.

Yeah, two articles that can link to each other. Let me know if you get a brain bug about it.

Maybe even starting with Sean of the Dead. That would be an easy one.

The ebook blog progress is a good idea. It's like Orson Wells' "War of the Worlds" broadcast but in journal form. Hmmmm, I feel a idea coming on. :-)

I'm for giving it a shot if we don't try to rush it. I watched "I Am Legend" with Will Smith but haven't read any of the books or seen the movies on the others.

If you want to pick up a library copy of something that would work, I could download the same book to my Kindle. I'm flexible as long as it has what we both need.

Maybe you could send me an email with your choice instead of going through the forums?

I think let's not plan it. If you feel like doing one, do it. Same here. We got nothing but time.

Just curious, but do you have a large library close by? It seems like I read something on your frugal living site about checking out books. Our library here is one of my biggest disappointments about living in the country. I really miss browsing through a well stocked library.

Right now I have several free books downloaded to read, plus we have company coming, so I'll probably wait a couple of weeks then take a look at some of the dystopian novels.

B/ It features FAST Zombies

Scary stuff! There's a fly turning honeybees into brainless bees. They're calling it the zombie fly.

The fast zombies probably wouldn't form into mobs so much and you couldn't kill them in bulk. The survivors wouldn't have much of a chance. Good-by world.

I may have to fix up a Zombie calendar to keep track of them all. Those Chicago folks must be preparing for the real thing!

I can't deal with fast zombies. They don't seem like zombies anymore, just some undead monster.

This might cheer you up a bit , although I'm not so sure about it being accurate for the fast ones.

Loved that bit about zombie death by freezer burn. I can see my little fox terrier latching onto one for dinner. They really don't have a chance.
