May 25 is National Missing Children's Day. The same day 6 year old, Etan Patz disappeared while walking to his bus stop in 1979. Exactly 33 years later police arrest Pedro Hernandez who confessed as a teenager he lured the boy into the store where he worked by offering him a soda.

Erika, I have a question. If Pedro Hernandez confessed as a teenager, why did they let him go? That seems like a strange thing to do. Now, 33 years later, they arrest him.

Very touching story Erika. Thank you so much for posting it. I was talking to my daughter the other day about the fear parents have when they send their kids off. Even though our elementary school was 2 1/2 blocks away around a couple of corners, I still worried.

Then when my daughter had go to the same school to catch the highschool bus I was worried even more so because HS started so early, she was often walking there in the dark.

Wow...my heart and prayers go out to the family. I'm sure this is a wound that never really healed.
