Summer is an important time for college students. While spending some time over the summer relaxing can help to rejuvenate you, it is also important to spend some of your time off beneficial to your future.
When I was a student I interned at a few different places and also took on several personal development-type projects. I actually feel like I learned more from those experiences overall than from college itself.
Basic discipline, communicating with people in a corporate environment (interned for Smith Barney for a while), meeting deadlines, working under pressure...I'm sure there is more, just can't think of it all
My daughter is a senior this coming school year. We have visited a few colleges that interest us. It seems they all have study abroad programs built right into the tuition making it easy for most all to afford. This is not something that was offered when I went to college many years ago. I'm curious as to when this became so popular.
