Cartoon Network has announced that the Toonami anime block will be returning to Adult Swim starting on May 26, 2012.

Anime News Network is reporting that the anime programming on May 27 will be:

12:00 a.m. - Bleach
12:30 a.m. - Fullmetal Alchemist
1:00 a.m. - Durarara!!
1:30 a.m. - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
2:00 a.m. - FLCL
2:30 a.m. - Cowboy Bebop
3:00 a.m. - Bleach
3:30 a.m. - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
4:00 a.m. - Bleach
4:30 a.m. - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
5:00 a.m. - Durarara!!
5:30 a.m. - Cowboy Bebop

Anime News Network is now reporting that the schedule in the previous post (which they had gotten from TV Guide) may not be accurate, since TV Guide last edited their listings on April 30, 2012. Also, Adult Swim's own website currently is not listing what will be shown on Toonami.

So the schedule that appears in the previous post may not be accurate. I'll be keeping my eyes open, and will report what the final Toonami lineup is when I find out.

Otaku USA is now reporting on this news, and their site shares a little bit of Cartoon Network's press release that was released for the return of Toonami on Saturdays.

According to the press release, "Airing weekly from midnight to 6 a.m. (ET/PT), in addition to the return of previous series featured in Toonami, Adult Swim is also developing new original anime programming for fans."

Unfortunately, the press release doesn't say what the "new original anime programming for fans" is.

Anime News Network is reporting that Jason DeMarco, the vice president for strategic marketing and promotions for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, posted on Twitter that the schedule for the new Toonami block will remain a secret until the block airs for the first time on May 26.

Anime News Network is reporting a schedule for the Adult Swim anime schedule for early morning on May 27, 2012, and this schedule has been confirmed as being correct by Jason DeMarco, V.P. for strategic marketing and promotions.

12:00 a.m. - Bleach
12:30 a.m. - Deadman Wonderland
1:00 a.m. - Casshern Sins
1:30 a.m. - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
2:00 a.m. - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
2:30 a.m. - Cowboy Bebop

The schedule then repeats between 3:00 a.m.-6:00 a.m.

DeMarco also clarified that the block will not be creating new anime shows for the block, and that the "new original anime programming" comment in the press release simply refers to "new acquisitions."
