You have to have a Google apps account (need your own domain and to set up a free account for email on that domain), perfect for someone who doesn't need a lot of emails and who loves Google mail.

I love both and was happy to set up a free account under one of my domains and then add personal emails that I could manage in Google. Then I had the added benefit of Google apps to add to my account.
