I had read an article about one of the new badges for the Boy Scouts. It's called the Game Design Badge - where scouts can design games (board games, RPG..etc) and earn a badge for it.

My first thought was "that is so cool." My second thought, "Why don't the Girl Scouts have this?" Well apparently the Girl Scouts already have a badge called Games for Life that has been around since 1997. To earn the badge, you have to play, critique, and plan games.

I think the Girl Scouts also have a Making Games badge for the younger girls. This is definitely one I know my daughter would love as she loves to make up her own games, stories, etc.

Were you a Scout? Would this be the type of badge you would be interested in?

I"ve been a Girl Scout leader for over 20 years and yes we've done the badges you've mentioned. Some girls loved them. Some were bored with them. Since most of the badges have been eliminated or re-vamped I'm not sure if the game badges are still relevant.
