I thought I would try to distill my ideas about spirituality in my own thread. I encourage others to start thread on theirs.

Comments are most certainly welcome.

For me, i find the most connection to the universe in nature. I like to be alone or with a few good friends in nature, but not responsible for anyone but myself. When i was guiding wilderness trips I never felt spiritual.

I love to be walking, hiking, paddling, backpacking, rock climbing, caving or even just sitting down in a pretty spot. I like being near the water, near red rocks, on granite rocks, in canyons, in mountains, or anywhere there is an expansive view.

I also feel a nice sense of connectedness when meditating outdoors, or when doing yoga anywhere.

I do not make time for those last things enough.

I feel that truths are subjective, except maybe for math.

I feel i have a purpose, but i am no longer in a hurry for it to get here. It's about living green and frugally and simple and sharing in the joy of wanting less.

I don't think there is a deity or creator, but am open to the idea of it. It doesn't make sense to me, but i could be totally wrong.

I do enjoy sitting in old churches or missions and quietly praying. I just don't do it to a god.

I want to be serene and accepting. Those are the goals i want to seek as i develop wisdom.

AND speaking of wisdom, I am learning to pick my battles. This one is crucial for me.

I have a lot more to say, but am going for a little walk around the garden right now.

I too love to be alone with nature. Walks on the beach - just at the edge where the water laps the sand, walks in the woods where everything is green and moist, walks in the openness where I can see for miles. To me, such perfect beauty could only have been created by a Divine Being.

Jilly....yes, truth is very subjective, as it means different things to different people. I like your view of nature and how it helps you in a therapeutic way, as well as living more simply and wanting less of material possessions. Living just to "be", and having a relationship with nature seems very pure and good. I think you are doing very well with knowing who you are and what you want your life to be like. It is very spiritual, and inspiring.

Jilly, this is a wonderful idea you started here. It is such a joy to see you with so much faith in yourself and the desire to search ever deeper within. It seems like you are beginning a new and beautiful journey. smile

Hi Jilly, I felt such a strong center emanating from this as I read it - a solidity and peace. You know your path, and that comes through - you wrote it from that place of knowing. That is a beautiful thing! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Loong. I think you are right about a major life change. In this case, dan leaving. This is unexpected. I thought I'd be a sobbing wreck right now.
