Hello, everyone! I have been gone for quite a while from these forums. I was the Winter Sports editor several months ago. My schedule is finally slowing down some. I am posting this because I am curious about what others are knitting in the summer months. Every summer I see the beautiful designs for summer tops and accessories in the knitting magazines, and dream about knitting up some of these designs. This year there are some beautiful skirts and knit-on-the-bias tops in some of the big knitting magazines. Is anyone knitting up a special summer project?

I'm mostly planning socks and a top or a lace something or other.

Those sound like nice projects - and its good to see you here! Socks are always in demand, and lace is so perfect for warm weather.

Will you post your finished projects on your blog?

Avid knitter here. I am knitting a top-down cardi in a bamboo blend. Very light and pleasant to work with.

I love working with Bamboo, it just keeps getting softer and softer! A perfect weight for summer weather.

I love the bamboo yarns I have seen at my LYS. They are beautiful and very soft! It must be as lightweight as viscose and nice for summer.
In warm weather it can be sticky just knitting with dense wool, causing your hands and maybe your lap to get all sweaty. Knitting with such soft and light yarn would be a treat!

I'm searching for the perfect lace project, to me perfect means a pattern that is easily memorized, and I could see a mistake just by looking at it, so that I'll know it is there in time to fix it without ripping back or down!

Since I have been out gardening I have been thinking about natural dyes. I am starting to plan a blackberry died lace scarf or something. so, I will be looking for a good lace stitch pattern myself.

Marge, let us know what you find for a pattern!

I noticed a bamboo silk blend at my local big block store. It was running about $7 for a small ball, but you can use a lot of coupons there.

I am really enjoying a lot of the lacey sweaters and cardigans that are coming out in the new knitting magazines - I hope to design something similar sometime. The patterns in Vogue Knittings Early fall edition or making for great inspiration!

OTN ( on the needles) I have toddler socks, still the Norwegian ski sweater for my oldest child (I am doing the main color work patch now, so that is taking longer to concentrate), a pair of socks for DH, and I have been working on a series of washcloths patterns for the knitting site.
