Subway is the only place we really eat fast food from besides random emergencies. There's one in between the gym and our house so Bob will stop there sometimes to grab me a tuna sub on the way home. I wish they still had the wraps! He has them "hollow out" the bread so there's not a lot of filler in there. So that's good.

Right now I'm eating the second half of a sub he brought home last night. Tuna, pickles, lettuce, cheese.

What subs from Subway do you enjoy?

I like Subway but I don't like so much bread. I'll have to try having them hollowing out the bun. I usually get a 6 inch flat bread with Provalone cheese, spinach, lettuce, onion, green pepper and black olives. -A little low fat mayo and a little mustard.

I love Subway and also have them hollow the bread. I pick that seven grain bread to wring as much nutrition out of it as possible. I miss the wraps too.

Have not tried the flatbread.

I wish the flat bread was whole grain - then it would be perfect.

We like it but only seem to eat there after a very long hike when we're on vacation. We are usually starving after 6-8 hours of strenuous uphill hiking so we can afford to have all the carbs and calories but if I do eat Subway in town (maybe once a year) it is definitely too much food for me.

I miss the wraps too. Why did they do away with them!! I think if they used whole grain flat bread like Lynne said we would choose that as our weekly cheat more often. We usually choose Dominos Artisan pizzas or Red Robbin Burgers over Subway. It's either more satisfying or less overall damage for me.

6" tuna sub which I will eat the whole thing is 40g carbs and 530 cal plus I have chips and a lemonade usually so that adds another 200 cal.

red robin gourmet cheeseburger and fries is 106g carbs but I only eat half the burger and 1/2 the fries which puts me at 53g carbs and 672 cal. and I only have water.

Same amount of damage so in reality Dominos is the overall better choice for me which is what we usually have:

Nutritional Info - Domino's Tuscan Salami & Roasted Veggie Artisan Pizza
per slice, 8 per slices per pizza (64g)
Calories - 150 (from Fat - 60)
Fat - 6g (Saturated Fat - 2g)
Sodium - 280mg
Carbs - 17g (Sugar - 1g)
Protein - 5g

I usually eat 2 slices with huge raw veggie salad on the side and water.

Fast food is tricky. It's not just about carbs is about total calories too. If you're eating half a 6" and no side items then you're probably doing good : )

Way, way back when I was in college, the subway near our school used to cut a triangle out of the bread. Very different from subway now. I'm more of a Wegman's sub type girl. I know all the bread is not good for me, but I love it! :-)

Not crazy about Subway in general, but if I do wind up there for whatever reason I will have the Italian BMT with lots of veggies.

I usually get the tuna although someone else on the Facebook page was talking about turkey which is also good for you and about the same nutrition value. So I'll have to try that. I only drink water with it, so no soda / lemonade and no chips. I will eat the 6" sub for a full meal.

Yup I have the seven grain too, to get the fiber.

I sometimes have him get me 12" so that way I get two meals out of it, although the second is less tasty because it's been sitting in the fridge for hours.

I just realized recently that for the price of that 12" sub we can get a full rotisserie chicken which feeds both of us for two yummy meals. So this is a sort of expensive habit I've gotten into. I need to cut back on it.

Well, you are paying for the convenience of prepared food. All you have to do is unwrap and eat. smile

That's only if you are having solely chicken. If I have to clean, cut up and put together my own sammies and dressings, it might be too much for me mentally. In which case I will grab a bagel with butter or something useless like that. smile

Ah ok see all I do is rip off a hunk of meat, pop a steam bag of brussels sprouts in the microwave, and a minute later I am completely done. So for me that is super quick and easy. We're all different!
