Breathing Space is precious. It is a place where one can contemplate, clear our mental plates, and prepare for new adventures in life. A Breathing Space is a space of balance and solutions.

"And if we think properly, in a careful and objective manner, we will develop the kind of outlook that leads to true healing." -Thomas S. Cowan (The Fourfold Path to Healing)

Right now I live alone, so whether I am inside or out I can find peaceful places to just be.

Debbie-

I envy you and Jilly in that yet, I wouldn't trade my life.

To be able to find breathing space all around you must be amazing!

Ahhhhh. To just be...

Yes. I love no one bothering me on my beautiful little island. I like it as private as possible and don't even tell most people where i live. It's my retreat, my sanctum and my homestead.

I can't imagine even wanting to share it with anyone! If i ever have another partner, they can have their own place nearby. smile

Jilly-

I read an article about 5 years ago about spouses living in different spaces. I was amazed at the percentages of marriages that do it and pleased and their success rate. I think the concept is a winner.

I think I read about spouses keeping separate rooms and if my house wasn't so small, I'd think I'd do it. Then when I go to bed too late I can retreat to a snore-free room. wink

As far as my breathing space, right now it is a space in time when the kids leave for school and hubby leaves for work. It has taken me a while to get in a groove and bond with this space since it is so new, but I'm glad it is there.

Yes. I like this topic. LOL!!!

I love my spouse, loads, yet, I would like more privacy and breathing space. I miss "ugly-time" (tee-hee); you know, those moments when you just are, without care of someone else seeing you. Then, after a day of renewal, resurfacing as a vision of loveliness that he hadn't seen in a while.

I miss, missing him (sigh). I always loved when I hadn't seen him for a day or two and getting giddy at the thought of his arrival or being pleasantly surprised by him showing up.

Marriage is lovely, it just lacks a few of the courting perks I really enjoyed (remember I'm a journey girl, not a destination girl). wink

Breathing Space is spiritual and renewing for me. Being married and living separate has always been a wonderful concept in my mind because you get more breathing space-time.

Maybe when my girls are older I will discuss it with my hubby again. Or, if we just get a larger abode I could create a private suite that would be a perfect runner up. Hmmm, how to convince him that living alone will be just as awesome for him as it will be for me (ha!).

Great topic ladies (LOL)

I live alone because my boyfriend passed away in January. We were living together here. I am choosing to be alone and stay in this place for the time being to allow myself some healing time and to get my strength back. I will be moving to be with my family next year, so I am making the best of my alone time. I never had the opportunity to live alone in my life. It is ok, but at times I really miss interacting with a significant other.

My perfect world would be to live with a loving partner. I enjoy the companionship and intimacy too much to want to live alone permanently, and I have a lot of love to give the right person. I can always find time to get away for private time when I need it, and I respect that he would need the same. I have always been understanding of when my man needs time to himself.

I have been married before and I enjoyed being married. Not once did I want to live separately.
