I have just cut 2 patriotic quilts to donate to Soldiers Angels. One will be a Slanted Star pattern and the other a Basket Weave. I'm relatively new to quilting and need to practice the point placement of the Slanted Star. I also spent 2 hours today, choosing fabric to make my sister a Golden Petals quilt for Christmas. Now I need to pull out the sewing machine & get to work!!

Hi Curlytop, You sound like a quilter on a mission. Good on you. Tell us a little more about Soldiers Angels. I've not heard of them before.

Soldiers' Angels is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit with hundreds of thousands of volunteers providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, veterans and their families. http://www.soldiersangels.org/ I have 2 sons currently in the Army National Guard and feel this is a great way to give back. Through this organization you can sponsor a soldier or join one of many support teams. I feel it is a great service and I stumbled upon it a few years ago. curlytop

Right now I am working on 4 UFO's. (You know the feeling where you get stumped on one and need to put it aside and work on something else.) Anyway,I am working on the embellishments on a wall-hanging that was a sample from a Reflection Class from Quilt University - I really love that site!
And a snowflake sampler using a different technique for each block.
And adding some applique to a rail-fence I made a couple of years ago.
And finishing some small baby quilts - no larger than 24" square - for the facility that takes care of drug addicted babies.

Maybe I'll be finished with at least one by the end of the year.LOL
