The sweet docile kinkajous with the velvety feeling fur is about as cute as animal as an animal can get - maybe the bush baby is as cute. The Kinkajou originate from the rainforest and lives mostly on fruit, flowers, and nectar. The pet kinkajous looks and acts like the animals from Avatar.

I think it sounds like a wonderful pet. After reading the article I would have enough concerns to really want to think it over before committing to this pet though. That is one big kinkajou cage. I suppose the diet could get very expensive too.

Very cute. It looks like my nephew's ferret. I don't think his cage is that big.

Ferrets don't climb like the kinkajou. Ferrets they can climb but they don't climb trees and such like a kinkajou. The kinkajou has a prehensile tail that adds to their balance and climbing ability. I have ferrets the cage isn't that big, the cage has layers or levels, and the ferrets are out a portion of the day. How do you like the ferrets? I love their personalities.

i am presuming you mean wooden shelves at varying levels. What kind of hidey box? Like a nesting box for a rabbit? If they can't be litter boxed trained it sounds really hard to keep all this wood clean. I would presume it has to be wood for their nails. How would a person keep this type of enclosure clean?

That is somewhat the point I was trying to make without being to blatant, it would be very difficult to keep an enclosure like this clean. A wooden kinkajou cage would be next to impossible to sanitize. Wood would have to be completely replaced quite often. I would love to see some responses from Kinkajous owners as to how they keep the cages clean. The hidey box would be very similar to a rabbit nesting box. Something for them to feel safe and secure. They sleep in hallowed out trees or crevices in trees. It keeps them hidden from predators. Anything of that general order.
