I revamped my Pet Binder just now. Here is how it's organized:

- the binder itself is very narrow. I think it's a quarter inch one. I wrote Pet Binder on the side of the cover.

- Front pocket is empty: this will hold temp papers before they get hole-punched and added to the binder.

- I have a plastic biz card holder in the very front, where i have the business cards of my vets, pet sitters, the local shelter, rescue groups and a spay voucher organization. I will be adding more cards to this as needed since there is plenty of room.

- I have dividers labeled by individual pet name, so one for Cameron, MeiMei, Charles Tucker and John Crichton, the current pets.

- I have a divider that is just called Cats, for paperwork for cats of the past that I have had, ferals that I brought to the rescue shelter, or whatever misc paperwork.

- One is called Dogs, since i have had a lot of dogs in the past. Right now my dogs are living with my parents and sister, on a permanent basis. But I still have some of their paperwork so may as well hold onto that.

- I have one more subject divider that I don't know what to do with yet.

- in the back pocket i have spay information and addresses for health care grants and such.

I think this is the easiest binder I've ever done. Right now I am working on getting the whole family spayed, and it's nice to have all the kids' info in one handy spot.

That extra subject divider will probably be for whatever dog I adopt next, now that I think about it. I do want a protection dog at some point, but it can't happen until i get the fencing finished here.

I just got my second girl spayed through a voucher program, yay! It was super easy to add her paperwork to the binder.

Dear Jilly -

It is so wonderful that you have the records for your pets organized - I know that was a source of stress for you. Bit by bit you are making your life more serene! You are quite an inspiration.

Good luck with getting the dog!

No dog yet. Not sure when/if this will happen. A dog costs more than i can afford.

Lisa, how do you organize your pet information?

Dear Jilly -

I only have one parakeet and one cat. The cat goes in for yearly checkups and that's it. So I just have a file folder that the reports from those go into. It's very easy.

Oh, sorry, Lisa; I kept thinking you had more animals. I didn't mean to be insensitive.

The first kitten of the season ran up to me last week from the backyard. Back to bottle feeding again.

I refuse to make a file section for this one. I hope to find her a home. I really can't have five cats. Plus all the ferals i feed. Mamma doesn't have enough money to feed all of them!

Dear Jilly -

Not to worry, I am quite at peace with my departed pets. They led good lives.

I agree that there are only so many pets we can care for well at a time.
