I seem to find it a lot easier to do a Tarot reading for an animal than for most humans. Is this because of a particular affinity or is it due to less complex influences?

Here's and example:

One branch of our clan are emigrating to Australia. While the humans have stopped off at Singapore for a week to acclimatise and prepare for the adventure ahead Ruby the cat has gone straight there. When I did a reading to see how she was, these are the cards I drew using the Thoth deck:

The Chariot- She travelled quickly (lots of jet engine symbolism and motion). Well protected (the armoured figure with the crab helm)With others (the animals in the foreground)

Princess of Disks: She is in a place of healing and protection ( symbolised by the woods and yin/yang flower held by the Princess)ie: quarantine Although the vet (princess) is kind, from her expression, and posture. Ruby does not like her (as seen by the horned headdress) because she has to give her injections and examinations (the spear with the diamond tip and light shining out of it)

The Ace of Swords - After the quarantine period - four weeks- is over she moves forward into the warm landscape beyond the sword (the medical checks)
Subdefine: Three of Wands - back home with the rest of the family perhaps becoming an indoor or pen/indoor cat because of the poisonous local wildlife.

You can do readings for situations and animals. I only found out about how accurate the animal ones could be when I started doing them to keep an eye on our cats and, later, my laugher in laws cats. Found out the hard way that other cards than the obvioius one can signify death..:(

I enjoyed learning about Ruby and your reading seems to be very much in tune to what Ruby has gone through and has ahead of her in her new journey and changes in life.

I think it may be easier to do a reading for an animal, because they do not give any feedback. On the other hand, it may be more difficult to confirm the reading unless the cat is highly clairvoyant and can send thoughts to you.

Very interesting, indeed, Ian. I would love to read more about Ruby and how she is doing. Do you do readings for her often?

I do the occasional reading for animals as a way of seeing how they are doing. This was my first reading for Ruby and I'll have to wait for the rest of the family to pick her up from Brisbane quarantine in slightly over three weeks.

I did a reading using the Servants of the Light Tarot for the family as a whole and that suggests things will work out rather well for their new life in Australia.

Update:

Ruby's time in quarantine is nearly done. However the house her family are moving into will be ready a week after she comes to them. Since the people the family are staying with already have a cat it does look like she will be in the parents or children's bedroom until then Excellent subdefine!!

How is Ruby doing, Ian? Did your reading confirm what Ruby has been going through? I have been thinking about her and wondering how things are going. Will you be doing a new reading when she comes out of quarantine?

Ruby is fine according to the Quarantine people. She's "eating well" and will soon be with rest of the family.

As there are no quarantine facilities in or near Brisbane, which is the nearest big city with an airport to where they live, it will involve another aeroplane journey to get her there. She will have to stay in someone's room until they move as the new house will not be ready until a week after she arrives. I may hold off on another reading until she reaches her family as the one above seems to cover it 'til then.

Ruby is now safe and well with the rest of the family. Hopefully I will get to see her tonight when we Skype.

The reading turned out to be very accurate from what I can gather. Right down to her having to be kept in a room - for a week- until the new house is ready and the family move. I'm going to do another reading re her new lifestyle, especially as she is going to be allowed to roam, and let you know what it says. smile
