Would not like to meet one in the dark perhaps, but isn't good news that it seems the Scottish Wild Cat, or Highland Tiger, population is growing Asha. There are only about 400 left, but now at least there are few positive signs that the population might be going up instead of continuing to decrease.

Francine thank you for this; I have not yet come across anyone who has met a Highland Tiger, but I do know people who regularly take to the Caringorms, so you never know... I think I somehow expected the animal to be bigger from the name than it looks.

Yes Asha, this one does look a bit 'wee' doesn't he/her.

They are apparently about twice the size of a domestic cat at least usually a lot more, and friends who have seen one in the wild say it would be a very bad idea to try to stroke it................if you value your fingers, hand and part of your arm that is.

Sounds like good advice Francine. I do have a bad habit of going up to cats and talking to/stroking them. I have forwarded the article link to several people I think could come in contact with one of these beautiful (though noted potentially dangerous) animals...
