Was it you who asked about dandelion wine and how to make it? I was supposed to see if I could find my recipe for it.

Have you ever had watermelon wine? I have got to try that for sure this summer.

That was Vi. I have made some and loved the delicate flavor.

Watermelon, eh?

I will look for the recipe for Vi, thanks, Jilly.

Yeah -- watermelon wine (I have heard) is mellow and delicious. There was a song I used to listen to, have not heard it in years:

Ain't nothing worth a solitary dime,
but, old dogs and children,
and watermelon wine.

Phyllis.....I hope you are feeling better after having that tooth pulled. We are definitely going to hold off on that ho-down until you can eat!

I love watermelon. When you have some ready in that garden I am coming over to enjoy some on the front porch.

Where is Rosie? I have to ask her about baking up some of that cornbread......

Last night for supper I had some cod fillets with tartar sauce. It was soft enough to chew without discomfort -- and tasted soooo good!

I see this tread quite often, it always sounds so warm and inviting. I always intend on stopping in but life keeps rushing by. Today I was thinking about my front porch and that we haven't even been out there since the snow melted. I made the decision that I would love to visit your front porch and also remind myself to visit my own. I love to watch the rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks and birds. From my kitchen window I watched the mother rabbit, who evidently has babies again. She lives under my tree where I allow the bottom branches to touch the ground and the grass to grow up past the beginning of the branches. A chipmunk walked close to the tree. Out came the mother rabbit and chased the little chipmunk all over the yard. A short while later I saw two rabbit ears in the tall grass next to the tree. Soon I will be able to watch her little ones come out and play.

What can you see from your front porch Phyllis?

Hi Diana, it sounds so lovely and joyful what you can see from your front porch and kitchen window. I can vividly picture what you describe.

From the front porch in this thread the imagination for each individual is free to wander and create. Here I see chickens, geese, and ducks wandering around the yard and in and out of the gardens. I see the creek flowing over rocks near the porch, birds singing their joy in all the many trees, butterflies and bees dancing in the flower gardens, and the faerie folk playing and giggling in the woods and trees.

From my real porch at home I see my little mountain, all covered with desert sage and wild grasses, lots of huge boulders, a vast view of the sky, and watch the hawks and eagles soar above, while squirrels, rabbits, and quail play on the mountain, running in and out of their hidden trails and burrows. At night I see the stars, moon, often clouds, shooting stars, and meteorites as I listen to the frogs and crickets.

I so love Nature. smile

On this porch thread one of Phyllis' geese is really attached to me. She follows me around, honks happily when she sees me, and allows me to pick her up and stroke her. Good egg layer, that one. smile

Is she the one with the little red bonnet on? She is a sweet little goose. If she follows you home, just give her a pillow to snuggle into at night and she will be fine. smile

Geese can be sweet. My great love out of the barnyard birds are chickens. Their feathers are very soft, and you can't beat the fresh eggs!

It is cloudy on my porch this morning. It poured like crazy last night. We really needed the rain.
