I've been thinking.....do you think somebody could make a little cornbread for our ho-down? I like it with fresh corn kernels inside and a hint of jalapenos for a slight kick.

All this good food a-gatherin' on the side board and I cannot eat anything now. I had a molar pulled on Wednesday and my mouth is still pretty sore. I can take pleasure though in seeing and smelling the wonderful aromas of food.

Think I will bbq some kielbasa links also till the skin is nice and crispy...mmm mmmm mm!

Phyllis, I love my violas too. The flower heads are food! I use them as salad fixins and in eggs and in sammies.

What do the violas taste like, are they similar to the taste of pansies?

Yeah, they dom't have much taste.

Is it almost watermelon time? I can hardly wait to enjoy my favorite melon. Granpappy planted an extra two rows of watermelon this year.

Are pansies edible then?

Yes, pansies are edible. I have not tasted one since I was a kid, but I remember there was not much flavor to them. We ate buttercups and wild clover also. The clover was good.

Pansies and Violas are lovely on a cake decorated like a basket of flowers for Mother's Day or May Day.

Other edible flowers - roses, nasturtiums, bachelor's buttons. Dandelions, of course!
