It takes a serious hiker to hike the trail on Mount Katahdin and a lot of courage and expertise to traverse the Knife Edge way up there.

Mount Katahdin is near and dear to me. I used to pass it every time I drove up to northern Maine to see my mother's relatives. Baxter State Park is a gorgeous area, wild and peaceful.

Also, my mother is French and Micmac or Mi'kmaq, which of course makes me part Native American as well from that region.

It was nice to see an article that touches me personally. Thank you for the nice article, Phyllis.

Debbie, it must be an awesome sight to see Katahdin in person. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and Mt. Rainier was our jaw-dropping awesome sight. Mountains are so special and an inspiring thing of beauty.

The history of tribes in the Appalachian regions goes back so far and I often wonder how beautiful it was to see Nature long before technology and construction of buildings and structures came along.

Thanks for reading and commenting.
