Mommy jacking. Some of you may have heard of this term, some might not have. Basically, it's when a mother says something to the effect of "You wouldn't know what it's like because you don't have kids," or "you couldn't possibly understand a mother's love." I have discovered one new way to mommyjack. Here is what I will henceforth refer to as another form of "mommyjacking." My older sister steals a picture of Nikki (My dog), on Facebook without even asking if it's okay that she take it and then proceeds to refer to Nikki as the "Only Niece she'll ever get from me", instead of saying "my sister's dog." I swear, it's like she has some kind of compulsive need to try and play at being mother to everything around her now that her kids are walking, talking and showing the first signs of Independence. XD It infuriates me that she assumes possession of other people's family members. Even one of her friends who just had a baby. It's not their baby, it's always her godson. Because no matter what it is, she always references it as belonging to her. Like she has to own everything in some way, even things that are part of another person's life before they were in hers. So, there you go. My older sister just invented a whole new meaning to the term "mommyjacking." And I am currently doing a facepalm.

Your sister sounds like she is a very insecure person. It must be very agrivating to be around her.

I can understand your sister's habit must be annoying, but I would try to just not even think about it. It's an odd habit, but her comments don't actually change anytbing. It's your dog, end of story.

Sounds like your sis is scrambling with her identity now that her own kids aren't babies anymore. I see it all the time. The minute a kid isn't stuck on the nipple, some women feel the need to portray themselves in some way that makes them feel more important. (Hence why she now has to call herself godmother). It is rather irritating (my ex-sis-in-law was like this) but I would not let it get you down. I would feel sorry for her momentarily then remember, I am happily childfree and will never go through this identity crisis. Yipee!

It's not particularly worrisome for me or anything, she just makes a lot of these types of comments. It's hard not to want to share them with others who will clearly see through the bull [censored] too. And honestly, I stopped worrying majorly over it a while back. Now, it pretty much just gives me an incredible fit of the giggles.

I actually have a baby, but those who don't know that still make those same comments to me sometimes ;-) Seems like it has more to do with the person making those comments than the topic of kids itself - insecurity, ignorance...? Who knows...
