Read the article. If like in the article loving your son is primary,your son being given good advice,limits that he is not allowed to cross,plus the presence of the father even just 10
minutes every day.If your son screws up it will be HISdecision.

I was raised by a mother that had 3 mental deseases.I eventually caught these ,genethics, so did my 2 brothers.
There was no love in the house.My father tried but we had been infected by our mother.My older brother was under the care of a shrink for 25 years,my younger brother is on pot and alcool.
In my case I developped substance abuse ,untilI almost died of
delerium tremens. Weighed 103 pounds when i stopped .
Today sober for 35 years.Am a Buddhist monk.I changed my life around.What differentiate humans from animals is to decide for
ourselves our path in life,animals just live their lives without
choice.

So from someone that went to hell and back .Just love your son,
without overdoing it so he will not become a King child.

Loong, I completely agree. There is mental illness all through my family as well. If I learned anything from my parents, it is that parents do the best they can, and children ultimately make the decisions that shape their own lives. The beauty of free will...

I do worry sometimes. While I know ultimately any mistakes he makes are his decision - we are role models.

No parent is perfect. Kids don't come with instruction manuals ( how cool would that be). There are times I look back at decisions I made in what I thought was my child's "best interest" and cringe. Like the time my oldest decided to experiment wearing his pants low. So after telling him to pull them up way too many times, one day I pulled them down (it was just family around). He never wore them low again... :-)

But all I can do, is raise them in faith and do the best that I can. Again, many thanks for the great article.
