Hii Lynne,
Just came on line and saw your post - your article is very interesting (thank you) and covers a lot of ground.
I am one of those who speaks to God. There was a time that I felt the name of Jesus Christ had been sort of hi-jacked by new/modern Christian thinking and this I did not like. I am too old fashioned and eschew guitars on a stage. All my upbringing has been communing and praying to God anyway, though now I am sort of retired and so too, I am too old to worry too much about how anyone interprets hiso/her own ways of worship. Let be I say, let it be. Still.
You also say:
The Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Three in One is a hard thing for many to understand and as difficult to explain. I will not attempt that here.
I had a wonderful friend/mentor who took our Sunday School in the Anglican church, Sister Jocelyn. She was a Mother Teresa figure for me as she was all I saw as being a 'really good person' as a child growing up, bless her soul. When we asked her about the Trinity she gave us a 'word-picture' as she called it, of likening the Trinity concept to water.
She said water is water yet it can also have three different states with very different properties. It can be water, it can be steam and it can be ice - yet it remains water and keeps its integrity as one substance.
For growing and questioning minds this was a fine explanation and one that was easy to understand for us. It also allowed us to learn and grow more in the church.
I pass this on only as an example with no finite use. Perhaps others would be interested in it. Anyway, I say cheers
