May I stick my nozy neck in here for a moment? I have friends that believe that they are gods and need no other. These are solid people and I can find no fault in them. They love their families, themselves, and me and I them. They are respectful and some of them very moral, ethical people.
Hold on !!
Now on the flip side I remember my Grandmother. I could look into her face and clearly see the Great Mother. She had all power granted to her by the universe because of her infinite concern for humanity and the earth. Then I remember my Grandfather who walked continually in his savior Jesus. I have never known a kinder man, whose prayers were answered miraculously and to see that he was so very content within. Both of these precious individuals were a lighthouse in the grander scheme of things.
I find no fault with any of the aforementioned belief systems as each has a divine purpose under the sun. Burt, there are times when God is very close and deeply rooted in my understanding. Then however when I avoid other truths that have been just as great an influence upon my life I feel eventually boxed in and not as free in my mind. Burt, You know when I say that you alone are the eternal and you are that which has ever been, is now, and will ever be, it is being said for a reason. It is not to offend your belief system by any means, on the contrary. It is to open us up to infinite possibilities and bolster up our self esteem.
Unfortunately some religions have said that all man is a wretched beast and lower than a snakes belly. That is simply nothing more than a tool for control and to keep the masses at bay while the upperwork lives in prosperity on the backs of the little ones. The spiritual mind of man counteracts that reasoning.
We do have value and unlimited worth!!! When someone close to you says, "I believe in you!" WOW what a shot in the arm !!! Who doesn't need that???? Again what Loong is saying is full of truth. Even if we believe that there is only one way to come home we do not speak that in wisdom. If we do, we have just turned a great percentage of people away from their possible path toward home, whereas in silence, yet by example, they may see what is within us and be content to follow the same path.
We use wisdom and not opinion. Sometimes silence and neutrality move mountains whereas 10,000 words tend ot get lost. When we look deeply within each religion including atheism we find so many similarities or differences but until we begin to respect those differences we will no doubt as a human race go through the hell that we need to until we learn. What we try so desperately to avoid sooner or later ends up on our agenda. Then we have to deal with our reactions to it. Loong, I hope that you do not mind my comments here??? You are also a precious friend. Blessed Be

To all, Please jump in .This is a subject that makes one really search inside .If he has faith or beleifs, and why.I will tell you a story about blind faith. This woman is preparing to cook a ham ,so she cuts a slice at both ends. Her daughter asks her ,why do you do this? the mother answers ,my mother used to do this.So they phoned the grandmother.Do you know what her answer was? Well your granfather used to bring hams that were too big for my broiler,so I had to cut a slice at both ends.
This is the purest example of blind faith ,doing something ,not knowing why.
So I hope every person interested in Spirituality Will jump in. and expose his/her view on the subject.
With loving kindness _/\_ loong,a simple buddhist
