If our tank is too close to a lot of computers and appliances, are the fish affected by the EMIs (electromagnetic interference)?

Hi, Lori, Yes, it's not as unsafe as it is for people, and there is a meter you can get to measure it, but you could just place the tank far away from the EMIs.

I don't know if different fish are more sensitive or not, but I have a Betta that seems to be very sensitive to electronics, especially ones that vibrate or hum.

However, this Betta, seems to like TV. He has a favorite corner he spends most of his time making a bubble nest, but when I put a DVD into my computer screen, he plant himself right in front of the screen. Then he gets bored and chases himself on the reflective sides.

So what seems to be a happy medium is to put the computer far away and the screen at an angle on a portable table. I just roll the thing to a distance we can both agree on smile
