The Quran gives us all the laws we need. The shari'a law is a corrupted version of the law in the Quran. You will find no mention of stoning women or cutting off the hands of thieves in the Quran. Man has revised the laws of the Quran to suit his needs and called it shari'a, therefore those who follow shari'a law reject the message in the Quran that it is fully detailed and that nothing has been left out of it and that it is all we need.

Good Morning Linda laugh Lots of good information here!

I really do believe that God is compassionate and loving.

I feel that when I'm starting to judge another person - it's definitely not God working through me... When I open to express God working through me, love is what always comes out. Every time LOL!!

Very well written and specific. It is clear that Quran is a complete book and doesn't need anything to be added to it. Sharia Law is absolutely evil and forces lifestyles to people and gives Islam a bad image, thank you for making this clear. It's really hard to find intelligent articles like this anymore.

Thank you Shervin,

Sharia law is an evil practise and because of it Islam is getting a very bad image, I totally agree with you.

It is such a shame that some of those who practise Islam today still insist on living in the 14th century. Life moves on, Islam moves on with life. It is not a stagnant religion. God knows that times will change and people will behave in different ways, depending on how society as a whole behaves.

It is a good job sharia law does not exist in cyber space or they would have cut off my hands by now for going against their precious man made laws.

Equivalence is God's law in the Quran so who are these men who think they can change it to suit their own vices? Power corrupts. God is the Judge.

Say, "I have solid proof from my Lord, and you have rejected it. I do not control the retribution you challenge me to bring. Judgement belongs with God alone. He narrates the truth and He is the Best Judge. (6:57)

Hi anu123

Thank you so much for you kind words. I am going to post the verses here which tells us who is prohibited in marriage so we can see who we are permitted to marry.

Chapter 4, verse 22-23

Do not marry the women who were previously married to your fathers - existing marriages are exempted and shall not be broken - for it is a gross offense, and an abominable act.

Prohibited for you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, the sisters of your fathers, the sisters of your mothers, the daughters of your brother, the daughters of your sister, your nursing mothers, the girls who nursed from the same woman as you, the mothers of your wives, the daughters of your wives with whom you have consummated the marriage - if the marriage has not been consummated, you may marry the daughter. Also prohibited for you are the women who were married to your genetic sons. Also, you shall not be married to two sisters at the same time - but do not break up existing marriages. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

These verses address men but the rules apply to women too. So, no one your father was previously married too (step mothers), no close family members, it says sisters but it does not say step sisters. A half sister/brother would be a close relative but a step sister or brother is not a blood relative. They are from another family and not related.

I have read on other websites about Islam that marrying a step sibling is forbidden, but I cannot find that statement in the Quran.

I would say, yes we can marry a step sibling as we are not related by blood and I cannot find anything in the Quran that says otherwise.

I hope this helps.

Hi Linda I am interested to convert to Islam. I am a married woman from a catholic background. My Husband and my daughters are not interested to change their religion and continue to be in Catholic faith. For them belief is a personal choice and they are respecting my decision to change the religion if I need to do so. They do not have any objection if I will go ahead with the decision of accepting ISLAM as my religion. My husband who is a loving person ensures me all the support from his side in my future acts. The question I want to ask whether or not I will able continue in the marriage if I am converting is Islam. Is Islam allows a woman to be in the wedlock with a person who is not a Muslim?
