My name is Les and I am thrilled to be the new BIRDS editor.
Some of you may know me as the editor for the MEXICO site and I am also thrilled to be continuing in that capacity.

The focus of this forum is the announcement of and comments, questions and discussion of the articles that appear on the Birds site.

I read and appreciated your email. I have the feeling that you are going to be the best Mentor ever!
I am going to have to study up on the issues around hybrid macaws before I shriek forth any opinions and perhaps "create" an article about them.

The first few of my articles are going to be (untraditional?) opinion pieces in a new subject area at the Birds site called "EDITOR'S PERCH.

I've just read your artilce Les - great - and it reinforces your credentials as the Birds editor, your knowledge coming from both daily living/care and exploration (or would you call it observation?, or both).

Thanks Asha about the "Bird Personalities" article. In both of the first two articles I was trying to establish some birdy credibility along with establishing an agenda, er, I mean philosophical tone for the site as it evolves...
