There are many topical spot-on flea products for cats on market. Several of these products have horrible reviews and are potentially dangerous for cats.

One thing I learned this year when I went to get flea meds for my dogs -- there are some medications designed for dogs that can be toxic to cats; fortunately the young woman at PetSmart asked if we also had a cat in the house that hung out with the dogs. We do, and she was able to direct us to a cat-safe medication for them. Something to keep in mind if your cats share the house with other animals!
