Hi Bella Family:

Tell us about your small office/home office?

Me, I have one in our master bedroom, really his desk(lol).

We are planning on making the spare bedroom (2nd bedroom) into an official office soon...

The spare bedroom across the hall from our master bedroom (same size, other side of the house) is my office. And workshop. It's a long room, so my desk is near the windows and my work table is at the other end of the room. Sometimes I can actually walk through the place. LOL! Our house was built in the 1880s and doesn't have closets (they used wardrobes), so the spare bedroom off the master bedroom is our "kit closet". It's not for everyday clothes but for our historical stuff which tends to be much longer and have more essential parts. =) There's another spare bedroom that we have actually used as a guest bedroom, but right now it's floor to ceiling with books that I inherited from my great-uncle. One day I'll go through them all. My husband's office is in the dining room, directly under my office. When we bought our big printer, the delivermen wouldn't carry it up the porch stairs, so we wheeled it in through the back door and into the dining room and there it stayed. We built his office around it.

LOL Kass, no closets!!!!

We are also in an older house, not sure what year, forgot already - he knows all the history on the area.

Our duplex use to be a huge house back from the slavery times.

It is long, front door on one end and back on the other = only 2 ways out(lol).

At first, I was not too hip on moving into it. We use to have a REAL house = all to ourselves smile

Anyway, thanks for sharing wink

Hi dan1987:

Welcome to the Bella Family - I see you joined 11/30/11.

It is an office and that is what counts. I firmly believe in having a spot, maybe a desk like me, that is designated for "biz" - helps keep us focused on that end of our life.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing...

No office here. In fact, I have been contemplating where to add a desk for myself over the past two weeks.

My husband has an office (the spare bedroom). My girls have a desk that in their bedroom. Our garden room (the perfect space for another guest room, ample closets & a full bath) is used for arts & crafts, game playing, exercising and play-dates. I could add a desk there, but everyone would probably join me every time I decided to sit down to it.

I've been starring at my Master bedroom walk-in closet. I feel like it would create a wonderful, and inspirational space for me. I hesitate because it has no windows (but it feels so right).

So, to answer your question, I have no office, I just write all over the house (using my lap for a desk); amidst the girls & alone.

Great topic Angela (as usual)!

I didn't have a home office, then I had a home office, but I'm back to not having one - as older kids come and go...LOL...

Right now I am operating out of a corner of my bedroom, but I may move it to a corner of the family room. I wanted to move the desktop computer down there, but I think I'll just start by taking my laptop down there since it is a bit of a hassle with all the cords on the desktop.

Dianne -

That must be fairly tricky. While I love having a laptop, and love the flexibility of being able to go work outside when the weather is nice, I also like the structure of my office. This was once the dining room. It's hard to even imagine now smile This house had a dining room, living room, kitchen and eating area on the first floor. Two eating areas?? We are fine with one. So I took over the dining room. Bob and I used to be in here together but now it's just me. I have shelves for all the books, my desk, the parakeet, and piles of things that need to be reviewed.

Most importantly I suppose I have the three month calendar at my left so I can always glance over and know what my schedule is. It's very helpful having that there.

Someday when I get this neater I'll take a few photos. Right now there are stacks of books EVERYWHERE that need to be reviewed. I need to get a bunch of these mailed out to editors. It's on my list!
