I went to Texas, and admittedly I was only there for a day. However, I was surprised by the food. It wasn't what I expected from Southern cooking. All of the pie shells were pre-made. The fillings were tasty, but the pie crust ruined the overall experience. So disappointing.
We were given a recommendation for a home cooking restaurant. The greens and purple hull peas were both canned and had minimal seasoning. I came back to Kansas and have just been cooking up a Southern/Soul food storm!
