It finally hit home tongiht that I am quite possibly losing part of my hearing. As a visually impaired person for most of my life, that terrifies me. (Well, terrifies may be a little strongly worded ...) I depend on my hearing so much! But here lately, I've been saying 'huh?' and 'what?' a lot more than my normal scatter-brained character requires.
I've just written an article about hearing loss, and that section with all the 'yes'/'no' questions about hearing loss was an eye opener. And then, tonight wil we were bowling, it became pretty obvious. And yes, those of us with really sorry eyesight bowl. We use really good 'navigators' to tell us what's left in what spot after we roll the first ball. (I use my seeing-eye-husband.) But with the racket of the alley, the 950000000 kids next to us and his low voice ... Well, it was tough.
So, fueled by this evening and the article I wrote for bellaonline, I'm going to my doc and request a hearing check. I'd like to invite others of you to read the article and then, if appropriate, join me. Hearing is really important.
Really important!
Let me know how it goes with you.
