Arranging marriages is not an outdated practice. They are a part of contemporary cultural and religious beliefs today.

In fact, I know of couples who have had arranged marriages, and they have created lasting unions and happy families. If I had not left the religion that I was raised in, there was a great chance that I would have consented to an arranged marriage, too, because I believed at the time that it was an act of religious faith.

But I'm thankful that I no longer belong to that religion and have married a man of my own choosing. We have been married for over 26 years, and we're very much in love still.

I'm sure there are benefits, and like you say, pros and cons. But not growing up in that type of culture and having my free choice all of my adult life, I can't see that type of arrangement working for me. It is nice to be free to choose who you want to spend your life with.

I can't imagine an arranged marriage. I'm certain they're out there and there are people who believe - kind of like that movie "Pleastanville" that, that's all there is...

But in the movie as well as love, there are parameters, outside of those limitations you never will find if you have some other person outside of you deciding who it is you will love and spend the rest of your days with.

Sure it can work, but like a few roads on a map. That's certainly NOT all there is to finding love and growing out of finding it.

That's very romantic, Gemineye. Marriages arranged by destiny can be some of the most beautiful and fulfulling marriages of all.
