There was resistance to the Nazi regime from within many sections of German society. Sophie Scholl and her friends were part of it��and paid the price.

Yes not all Germans were Nazis Phyllis, regardless of age and position in life, and many suffered a horrendous end, because their beliefs had made them fight in one way or another against what they saw as 'just plain wrong'.

An almost impossible task in such a vicious dictatorship which had no relationship whatever to democracy, so they knew the risks they were taking but stood to their principles and took them anyway.

Great article. She was a remarkable person. Don't you think many "ordinary" people are remarkable when it's needed?

Yes I think you are right, many find not only incredible inner strength but also a type of peace with themselves when they either decide to go out on a limb for a cause, or when their lives are in crisis in some other way. It is amazing what human beings can do when they put their minds to it. It is just unfortunate that sometimes it can work both ways.

Thanks for the nod about the Amazon Advert Mona.........can not stand the way they are all red, and in desperation have just discovered how to make them black. Well black with red underlining but still an improvement.
