Did a liberty port call in Phuket while in the Navy as we were returning to the States after a period of tanker escort through the Straits of Hormuz. Great place to blow off steam, but also a place that offers many activities that can get sailors in trouble. Best to visit as a chosen vacation...

Hi Beetlemess! I can definitely see how sailors could find trouble in Phuket - especially at the strip at Patong Beach... my 19-year-old daughter was shocked at how many prostitutes approached both her and her male friend. But the vacation resorts are quiet enough.
