The vision issues newsletter contained a story and link to the website www.abilitylinks.org. In this forum please tell us about your job search adventures. Please include any information that helped you to land a job. Your information and story may assist another visually impaired/blind individual to obtain employment. Thanks for taking the time to get involved in the employment issues of the visually impaired/blind.

Hi, Everyone. I applied for a telemarketing job yesterday that I found on the job site for people who are visually or physically disabled called; "abilitylinks.org". The job allows me to work from home. A home-based job for a visually impaired person is very beneficial mostly because it eliminates the need for transportation to and from the work site. One of the most frustrating areas for me as a visually impaired person looking for work is being able to tell an employer that I have reliable transportation. Although, Urbana/Champaign, Illinois has a great public transportation system there is always a chance something will go wrong and I would miss or be late for work. Hopefully, this job will meet my needs and end my job searching. Best wishes to all.

Awesome Dean, you had mentioned on my "How To Survive Unemployment" site that you would be interested in participating in a discussion on this subject. If okay with you, can I "link" to your post so that other folks in the same situation as you are can be ENCOURAGED? If not, I totally understand and will not be upset with you smile

Hi, angela.
Most definitely. I will help in any way possible.
Please, feel free to link to the forum and let me know how I can help or what I need to do to participate.
Employment issues for the visually impaired/blind is on the top of the list of needs.

The more people involved and the more ideas, suggestions, and information posted to a forum the better chance someone can find helpful hints or new methods for solving a problem.
Thank you for your interest and help!

You are welcome Dean! I am going to go link now before I forget smile

Jilly, can you help Dean with his signature link? It is showing up as raw url - or does he need to post a certain amount of times before he has access to this function? LOL, you see I have already forgotten - been so long when I was a new editor for this forum.

Hugs to you both,
A

Hi, Jilly.
Thanks.
I also enjoy my home life and believe I can be an excellent home-based employee.

I applied 2 days ago but no response. Hopefully by next week I will hear something about the job opportunity. I would enjoy posting and sharing my experience obtaining a home based job with my readers.

Best of luck!

Hi Dean:

Glad to see you are "settling" in smile

And yes, please keep posting to this thread about your job hunting adventure.

When you get a chance, please stop by my site "How To Survive Unemployment" again and make sure I have your item set up the way you want it. Ideally, I want folks that visit my site to join this discussion, so I linked to it - with no option to comment on my site(lol).

How exciting - I finally have someone that is an EXPERT on this subject. Who knows Dean, you may be creating jobs for others who are in your situation. That is what made me set up my site, had too much time to sit around feeling sorry for myself - the site helped me survive and in the process was able to help others going through what I was.

It is all about networking...

Hugs,
A

Hi, Jilly.
Thanks. I hate photos mostly because I can no longer see them. Therefore, I do not know if I like the picture or not.
Your comment helps me to feel comfortable about my photo. My friend who took the photo made the same comment.
So your comment helps me to understand the photo is a good one. Thanks so much for taking the time to view my page.
Please, let me know if there are any problems on the page. I can only correct problems with written context. Everything else I must depend on a sighted person to inform me about correctable issues. So, any help is appreciated.
I just submitted my graduation check list for approval. Hope, I don't have too many problems.

Thanks again.

Hi Dean:

The thank you goes BOTH ways - ALWAYS a pleasure to visit your site, thanks SO MUCH for making me feel welcome smile

Thanks for the update on yourself, please continue to post to this thread so that my "How To Survive Unemployment" site visitors can join in and discuss and ask questions if needed.

I am also going to sign up for your newsletter. I have to figure out a way to use my site to advertise your newsletter. LOL, another project for my "learning" list - how EXCITING wink

In ending, I am going to link from the BellaOnline "Unemployment" to this thread so that unemployed folks know YOU are here and ready to help in any way you can. At the moment they do not have a BellaOnline Editor for that forum, so I am helping out and ENJOYING the whole journey. Wish I had some free time to volunteer as an editor again. Oh well, maybe some time in the future.

Dean, I firmly BELIEVE in "karma" - what you do and say comes back to you!!!! Good things are on their way to you Dean. Yippee
