Can I count my awesome binders as journals? I'd like to talk about how they are coming along but am not sure it fits in here.

That sounds pretty cool. You can insert all kinds of neat things into a journal like clippings or scrapbook type pages to enhance your journals. The plastic slip pages can hold special momentos.

You have my vote for binders counting as a journal. smile

Thanks, Vi!

I am not sure where a journal ends and a binder begins, in the sense that i use binders to organize my life. But i feel pretty passionately about them and they are a huge help. They 'feel' like journals.

I think journals can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and it's fine if they are three ring bound vs perfect bound.

I guess i am not talking about the physical structure so much as the intent. My binders are ways to help me organize my life and order my mind. Like my medical binder. Can that sort of be like a journal?

My opinion...?

Your journal can be anything you want it to be!

I'd like to hear about your binders, Jilly!

Cool, thank you!

Right now I am working with my Flight Plan, which is a binder that lists all the little things I like to do each day - from cleaning myself and the house, to how I work on my nutritional plans, and how i get things organized. I keep this binder deliberately small, so i do not overload it and get too ambitious with my weekly routines. I use the Flylady system with this one.

A binder i am working on today is my Project Binder. So far its a big mess of papers all shoved in there. But at least these are papers that are in one place, even though they are not organized properly yet.

I need to sit down with some dividers and really think about my main projects, their timelines, updates and action items.

I also have these:

Flight Plan (mentioned above), stays with my huge wall calendar
Car Binder (stays in car)
Blue Box (keeps important documents and needs to be weeded out soon)
Bill Binder
Pet Binder
Mental Health Binder
Physical Health Binder
Self Esteem Class Binder
RV Binder
Local Resources Binder
For Sale Binder (ideas for the things i am decluttering and want to somehow sell)
House Maintenance Binder

I have some other ideas but these are the ones that are in use or being developed right now. I'd love more ideas. I am kind of a binder freak.

Jilly, I am firmly of the opinion that your journal should be your way... no matter what! Look at it this way: Just about everything in life has a set of rules. Bosses of one sort or another dictate. You gotta do this this way and hafta do that that way... but not your journal!

You are the boss. You make the rules and play YOUR way! I think it's a very nice feeling indeed.

I like your binder ideas. Sounds like everything in its place.
