Jaws is one of those perfectly New England movies. Sea-side town, beach scenes, and a shark wink

What do you guys think of Jaws? Silly monster flick? Fun dialogue?

Scary!!!!

After seeing it for the first time, I now hesitate about swimming in the ocean. Sad, as I grew up on an island (Jamaica, West Indies) and had no fear while living there.

Now at age 53, will not venture out as far as I use to. Yikes!!!

I was on Cape Cod when Jaws first came out. The beach scenes were filmed on Martha's Vineyard with local folks in the crowd scenes. It was fun to be in the audience when people would recognize neighbors on screen!
I must admit that it felt kind of creepy swimming in Vineyard Sound for a while. The first time I went to the beach after watching the film was on a foggy day, you couldn't see anything out in the water, nobody else was around and it was so quiet and spooky. I made sure I didn't go out past waist deep! I can still hear that music beat in my head!

My boyfriend spent his summers on the cape and he wouldn't go in the water after seeing this smile Probably for good reason - there are sharks spotted out there every once in a while! Especially with all the seals that are around now.

It's definitely a "male driven" movie - I think there is only one time in the entire movie where a female talks to another female, and it's a casual line on the beach about what makes an islander a native islander.

Jamaica, West Indies do have "shark" fences in place, so I know I have nothing to worry about - but...

And YES, I am the biggest coward when it comes to certain things.

So folks, don't fear swimming in the beautiful & blue ocean that surrounds my island - the Caribbean Sea.

You are safe, it is just me/lol.
